According to Wedding Wire newlywed report 2020: while the average
couple is engaged for 15 months, over 85% of couples start discussing their
wedding preferences like guest count (63%) and type of venue (57%) prior to
getting engaged. Despite being so proactive, couples still say one of their
biggest challenges during planning is “knowing where to start” in addition to “planning
within budget”.
So what about this is challenging?
Well we’ll leave that for you to tell us, in the meantime
let’s help you with these 6 Wedding
Budget Tips:
#1 STICK TO YOUR
BUDGET
Before you start running around calling service providers
and suppliers and spending, wait a minute! Sit down with your fiancé and
determine how much funds do you have available for your wedding.
Create this budget around your own personal financial
situation and find a way to STICK TO IT.
It is also a good time to talk to your family members to see
what they may be contributing. Don’t forget to take note of this.
#2 PRIORITIZE
One of the biggest things that will help you with your
budget is to prioritize. Think about all the things that make up a wedding day.
Then decide on what’s most important to you and your fiancé. Let’s say three
(3) must have elements at your wedding.
When you both decide on your priority list, here is where
the largest percentage of your budget goes towards. This eliminates the not so
important aspects reducing your spending.
#3 CUT YOUR GUEST
LIST
YES YOU HEARD CORRECT!
Your guest list size is your biggest determinate of your
wedding cost. Think about it; the food, the drinks, the table, the tokens and
the list goes on. Once you can manage your guest list, you have managed your budget.
Therefore this is of utmost importance.
#4 LIMIT BAR
OPTIONS
According to Mindy Weiss, feel free to skip the champagne
toast. It is no longer a must-do at weddings. Instead have everyone toast with
your preferred drink.
Work with your venue, caterer or bartender to create a bar
that are within your budget, whether that means offering only beer, wine,
water, soft drinks and a signature drink.
# 5 CHOOSE AN
OFF-PEAK WEDDING DATE
Did you know your wedding date can actually affect the cost of
your celebration?
From choosing an off-peak month to a mid-week day you’re
more likely to save more on your venue cost.
We know it won’t be as convenient to you or your guest, but
if you choose any other day than the popular Saturday for example will answer
your budget woes.
#6 HOST IT ALL IN
ONE PLACE
Lastly, by choosing a venue that serves to accommodate both
aspects of your day, you’ll save yourself from having to pay two different
venue fees which can most likely be more.
Examples of all in one venues can include a church with a
hall or a garden venue that a ceremony can be hosted outdoors and a reception
indoors.
